So often our friends say to us: "Sisters, we are so glad that you are here!" and, "It is such a comfort to know that you are praying for us!"  We would like to give you that same joy and consolation by inviting you to explore our form of life in these pages.  We are very ordinary women who have been called to live in an extraordinary and countercultural way, not only for our own sake, but for yours as well.   In a world that seems engulfed by hatred and war, there are yet people who are dedicated to peace.  Please join us as we praise the Father, offer ourselves with the Sacrifice of the Son, and compassionate the pain of all who suffer in the love of the Holy Spirit.

The Poor Clares of Barhamsville, Virginia are a cloistered monastic community following the inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi and his close friend, St. Clare. We seek the face of God as He reveals Himself in the Liturgy of the Church and our contemplation of the Eucharist and the Scriptures. The fruits of our worship are then shared in a family life of sacrificial love and service to one another.
